Store extra solar power to provide backup for your home during power outages
Solar panels create electricity from sunlight when the sun is shining and the electric grid is working. Adding battery storage to a solar system allows it to do even more, increasing your energy independence and providing energy resilience—and giving you peace of mind. Solar + storage provides renewable energy for your home and and saves any extra solar power in the battery to use during a power outage.
Solar + storage systems can provide enough backup power to keep your food cold, cell phones charged and the lights on during a power outage. You choose which rooms and appliances you want to back up. The solar panels recharge the battery daily so it can provide backup power even during extended outages. Solar + storage is a clean, safe and quiet alternative to portable, diesel- or natural gas-powered generators—with no noise, maintenance, exhaust or carbon monoxide.
In addition to Energy Trust solar incentives, some solar + storage systems are eligible for Oregon Solar + Storage rebates and federal tax credits. Some battery storage systems may also qualify for incentives from your utility.
